Welcome to Racing

Wealden Sailability provides racing every Thursday morning and afternoon from late April to end October, both to provide competition and also develop sailing skills.

There is a 1 lap practice race at 10.55, followed by a Points race, at around 11.20. Afternoon races start from 13.15, and currently are  a series of 1 lap races.  There are also Regattas, with Women on Water, with both integrated & separate results.

Racing takes place in Libertys, 303s (both single & double handed) & 2.3s. Registration takes place from 10.00 am, with briefings prior to launching.

There is 3/2/1 minute countdown with both audio & visual signals, assisted, on the water, by the Safety & Commando support boats.

Racing takes place in front of the Clubhouse, so family and friends can follow every moment, giving opportunities for post race coaching, whether requested or not. The racers often lunch together, swapping tales of prowess and smart tactics until the reality of the handicap results is announced, when all are celebrated.

Whilst serious, the racers are tolerant and considerate.  It’s especially rewarding to see how quickly sailors can progress from crewing to setting off single handed in a 2.3, 303 or ultimately Liberty.

If you’d like to join us, or maybe have a taster, complete the form under Contact Us.

Look forward to seeing you “around the buoys”.
