A gallery of photos featuring new client Jon Beck

Jon joined us fairly recently, but after a couple of runs out on the RS Venture with one of our volunteer helms (as seen in this gallery), he soon progressed to sailing the servo assisted Liberty on his own…..well OK a certain brave lady sits on the back, just in case anything happens..!!

The Spirit of FreeMasonry official launch

On the 13th Sept, Wealden officially launched the wheelchair accessible boat named “The Spirit of Freemasonry”.
Along with the regular Wealden volunteers and clients, the event was also attended by many local Mason’s with over 20 guests, including wives and family from Knole Lodge, Holmesdale Lodge and Coulsdon Lodge.

Officers from the West Kent Masonic Province, who sponsored Wealden in the Masonic Charitable Foundation Tercentenary grant competition, also joined the party including Mark Eyles-Thomas, Deputy Provincial Grand Master from Province of West Kent, one or two Assistant Provincial Grand Master’s, our Provincial Grand Charity Steward Roland Stokes and Fred Haligan.

Mrs Maria Martyn, widow of the very recently deceased Master of Knole Lodge, Ross Martyn, attended and very kindly agreed to “Cut the Tape”.

drascombe lugger with crew

Drascombe Lugger takes to the water…

Although some work still needs to be done to her, Wealdens new boat the Drascombe Lugger (Kindly donated by Anne Frewer, one of our sailors) took to the water on Wednesday 17th March, at the hands of Steve Thomas and David Mckee….

It was quite a windy day and although getting her to tack well looks to be an ‘acquired skill’, the Lugger appeared to be very stable and is already starting to look like a good addition to the Wealden fleet.
